The First Session and Private Consultation
This is the cornerstone of all of our programs. This session serves to build trust and understanding between child and consultant as well as parent and consultant. It also serves to build confidence in children's abilities, set the foundation for future sessions, and begin the process of establishing healthy exercise and nutrition habits. Our consultant works with both children and parents to accomplish the following:
Follow Up Sessions
The next series of sessions are critical in establishing the foundation for a long term healthy lifestyle.
During this time, the emphasis is on building confidence and motivation, building self-esteem, and engaging them as important, one-of-a-kind individuals. Both the interactions with our consultant as well as the exercises are designed to build the children up emotionally. These sessions focus on positive reinforcement and fun!
Each session is tailored to the goals, needs, and abilities of the child.
Establishing Habits and Accountability
During these sessions, we introduce "homework" assignments. Each child is assigned small sets of basic exercises
to perform. Each child is also given their own Activity Log that allows them to keep track of all of their exercise
activity and accomplishments. This is the foundation for the gradual introduction of daily activity.
Family Consultation and Education
Consultations with parents are ongoing. We will develop strategies for providing positive reinforcement and
a positive, supportive environment. These strategies revolve around parent and family
behavior, communication patterns, structure, and external influences (magazines, fast food, and fad diets to
name a few).
